Saturday's Excerpt – Breaking Free

No, she couldn’t let her mind drift and inadvertently let her feelings toward Katelyn be known. Beacher was a small town and even though Katelyn was friendly to her now, would she change her attitude if she found out that Izzy had ended her marriage five years ago to succumb to her hidden desires to be with a woman? How did she know how Katelyn felt about anything?

They’d had a short friendly conversation, but that was all it was. She had to keep her guard up. It would be easy if Katelyn weren’t so damned attractive with a voice that felt like soft fingertips roaming over her needy flesh every time she spoke.

Saturday's Excerpt – Behind Closed Doors

Summer’s face softened. "No, we can’t Kera. But hopefully I can ease some of this loneliness for you." She patted Kera’s hand again.

Suddenly Kera felt safe. It was hard to explain how such a simple gesture could make her feel protected, but it did. And a part of her was happy that Summer would be taking Karl’s place. As much as she’d miss the sporadic rapport Karl and she had managed to build over the last two years, it would be nice to have a woman to talk to. But she could never tell Summer that she’d confided to Annette about her true identity. Just as she’d never told Karl. And she could never tell either of them that Annette was holding that information against her. Thinking about Annette left a bad taste in her mouth.

"I can’t give you the details about what’s going on with the case. I can tell you that instead of Karl contacting you monthly or bi-monthly, I’ll be in contact daily. Karl and I thought it might be a good idea if I became your new roommate."

Kera lifted her eyebrows in surprise. "My roommate? I’m getting twenty-four hour a day protection?" Suddenly, it dawned on her the reason why. "I’m no longer safe, am I?"

Saturday's Excerpt – The Prize

Starlyn stood at the edge of the makeshift judging platform in the large backroom of TM’s. She was dressed in a tight short skirt and lowscooped shirt, which gave a tempting view of her voluptuous breasts. Standing confidently in her stilettos, she made Micki want to run her hands slowly up those long legs. She felt the burning heat between her legs and knew she’d better get her mind off of Starlyn and onto the race.

"You ladies know the rules. Is everyone ready?"

Micki watched as Starlyn’s gaze moved down the line of contestants and when her eyes met Micki’s, Starlyn quickly looked away.

Saturday's Excerpt – Out Of Control

"No. I’m hoping that once you and Molly get to know each other better, you’ll come to your senses where Chelsea’s concerned. Molly doesn’t sleep around."

Her eyes widened. "Neither do I, Stel."

Stella eyed her warily. "Loneliness can sometimes make a person react uncharacteristically. Take the time to get to know Molly. She loves a lot of the same things you do, reading, poetry and she loves the theater almost as much as you do."

"I want to know her, Stel," Alex said quietly as they observed Molly heading toward them with a wide grin on her pretty face. "I won’t ever hurt her. You know that. And thank you for not mentioning Chelsea to her."

Stella squeezed her elbow. "I know you wouldn’t deliberately hurt anyone, sweetie, but still be careful."

Saturday's Excerpt – The Interview

Rae’s insides quaked as Shayla’s eyes gave her the once over. She wondered if she was reading more into the way Shayla’s eyes met hers, but the way they lingered was a look Rae was quite familiar with. Her ex-lover had looked at her that same way before things had gone sour between them. What did Shayla really have in mind and more importantly how would Rae handle it? She swallowed hard. Or was her imagination conjuring up something that wasn’t there because subconsciously she wanted it to be?

Saturday's Excerpt – Best Friends

Katie was her own age and a classmate, and Callie couldn’t run from her even if she wanted to. She practiced repeatedly in her mind what she would do if she sensed that Katie might harbor the same feelings about girls that she did. Even though she knew it was too much to hope for, it comforted her to pretend that Katie did indeed harbor those same feelings. As cool and calm as her mind portrayed her imaginary confrontation with Katie, Callie knew that probably wouldn’t be the case in reality. Katie already made her turn to gelatin when she was near, and especially when she smiled at her.

Saturday's Excerpt – The Other Side

Clare Christian scanned the newspaper. "Where are you, Ally?" She wondered why Ally hadn’t called her. They’d often gone for a few weeks without seeing one another, but they’d always kept in touch by phone. She debated calling Ally’s private number. What reason would she give for calling if Michael answered? If she didn’t hear from Ally soon she would make the call. She loved being Ally’s confidant as well as her lover. In the beginning, she’d wanted so much more out of their relationship and at times had even thought about ending it, but she knew deep within her heart that Ally was destined to remain a part of her life. She’d settled into her own life, living for the moments Ally could come to her and they would make passionate love and then she would tenderly hold Ally as Ally shared her fears and hopes with her. She hated releasing her back into her life with Michael Brent, but knew she had to.
