Saturday's Excerpt – Zinna

Zinna waited for Monica to release her hand, only she didn't. She should pull her own hand free, but something inside wouldn't allow her to. She imagined it was Megan holding her hand. It felt good to be touched again, touched by her Megan, Megan who shared the same feelings she did. It'd been so long since she'd felt the flesh of Megan this close to her own. Old familiar feelings stirred inside her. Those feelings and yearnings now seeped to the edge of her consciousness, engulfing her in the mysteries which lay ahead just as they did when they were sixteen and knew they had no control over their feelings for one another. Her mind unconditionally convinced her that it was Megan holding her hand and tears rolled down her face as the song ended. The ache in her chest engulfed her.

Saturday's Excerpt – Zinna

Zinna was immediately sorry that she'd mentioned Megan. "Oh, just a friend," she answered quickly.

Charity studied her, making Zinna uncomfortable.

"We've been friends since high school."

"Megan's still in Buffalo?"

She shook her head. "Rochester."

"You went to school in Buffalo, though?"

"Yes, but Megan and I moved to Rochester after high school. She's still there."

Charity looked evenly at her. "Maybe she'll come for a visit sometime."

"Maybe," Zinna replied.

Saturday's Excerpt – Destiny

"Jaylene's there?"

"She just got out of the shower," she explained. "I don't know what she fixed for my hangover, but I'm feeling better than I was a little while ago." She smiled at Jaylene.

"She spent the night then?" Angela's voice grew quiet.

"Yes. If it weren't for her, I don't know how I would have gotten through the night. She was a lifesaver."

"I…I'll let you get back to what you were doing. I was just worried about you. Goodbye."

"Angela, wait!"

Saturday's Excerpt – Destiny

Rachel noticed Angela's demeanor as her friend sat rigid with her lips tightly pursed in disgust. "Okay, level with me, Angela. What is it with you two?"

Angela's eyes flashed angrily. "She's bad news. She enjoys chewing people up and spitting them out. She's a user and she's dangerous. No one's feelings, but her own are of any importance to her," she bitterly replied.

Rachel's eyes clouded. "Did she do something to hurt you?"

Angela looked down at her folded hands and seemed to be concentrating on the simple ring she wore on the pinkie finger of her right hand. Finally, she raised her eyes to Rachel's. "Yes. She almost destroyed my life."
