Saturday's Excerpt – Partners: The Wrong Corpse

Johanna stretched. She caressed Frankie’s arm, which was wound around her waist. She’d gone to bed a couple of hours ago, but couldn’t sleep. Something about the pictures she’d downloaded to her computer didn’t seem right. She wished she could figure out what was nagging her about them.

Frankie opened an eye and squinted. "Is it time to wake up?" she murmured. "I could sleep for a week."

Johanna turned on her side facing Frankie. She leaned in for a kiss, loving the feel of Frankie’s full, soft lips on hers. "No, babe. Go back to sleep."

Saturday's Excerpt – The Three Of Us

But it was Lily. She couldn’t change that reality. The past had come back to haunt her. The past she could never forget, but never believed would resurface bringing back all of those painful memories. What could have possibly brought these two together besides the obvious physical attraction? Deborah had to admit that time had been kind to Lily. She still had a slim figure, but it was her face. That beautiful innocent looking face.

It was as though time had stood still as far as Lily was concerned. Her flawless skin, high cheekbones, almond shaped clear chocolate brown eyes, and dark brown hair looked almost the same as the last time Deborah had seen her. Her stomach muscles tightened. How could she delicately pull them apart without Caroline ever finding out the truth? Certainly Lily would want to break off with Caroline now that she knew the identity of Caroline’s mother. Deborah could see no possible way Lily would feel comfortable marrying the daughter of the woman she’d been so close to all those years ago. Worse, what would Caroline think when she learned her mother’s secret…a secret she’d kept hidden all these years?

Saturday's Excerpt – Heart's Desire

The wind picked up and a cool breeze enveloped them just as the stars rapidly disappeared behind a band of dark clouds. Lightning flashed in the sky.

"Wow! The weather sure changed quickly," Vanessa observed.

Emma studied the sky. "Looks like we’re in for a bad one. Probably what they predicted for last night. We’d better put the fire out and get back inside the cabin before it starts raining."

Vanessa followed Emma’s lead and began scrambling to throw piles of dirt on the fire. They’d just doused it when a deafening crack of thunder rumbled across the sky followed by the first cold drops of rain.

"Come on," Emma said grabbing Vanessa’s hand as a bright flash of lightening zigzagged across the sky lighting the path in front of them.

They were almost to the cabin when Emma’s boot caught under a dead tree root and she went sprawling face first onto the ground. Excruciating pain shot through her ankle.

Saturday's Excerpt – Breaking Free

No, she couldn’t let her mind drift and inadvertently let her feelings toward Katelyn be known. Beacher was a small town and even though Katelyn was friendly to her now, would she change her attitude if she found out that Izzy had ended her marriage five years ago to succumb to her hidden desires to be with a woman? How did she know how Katelyn felt about anything?

They’d had a short friendly conversation, but that was all it was. She had to keep her guard up. It would be easy if Katelyn weren’t so damned attractive with a voice that felt like soft fingertips roaming over her needy flesh every time she spoke.

Saturday's Excerpt – Behind Closed Doors

Summer’s face softened. "No, we can’t Kera. But hopefully I can ease some of this loneliness for you." She patted Kera’s hand again.

Suddenly Kera felt safe. It was hard to explain how such a simple gesture could make her feel protected, but it did. And a part of her was happy that Summer would be taking Karl’s place. As much as she’d miss the sporadic rapport Karl and she had managed to build over the last two years, it would be nice to have a woman to talk to. But she could never tell Summer that she’d confided to Annette about her true identity. Just as she’d never told Karl. And she could never tell either of them that Annette was holding that information against her. Thinking about Annette left a bad taste in her mouth.

"I can’t give you the details about what’s going on with the case. I can tell you that instead of Karl contacting you monthly or bi-monthly, I’ll be in contact daily. Karl and I thought it might be a good idea if I became your new roommate."

Kera lifted her eyebrows in surprise. "My roommate? I’m getting twenty-four hour a day protection?" Suddenly, it dawned on her the reason why. "I’m no longer safe, am I?"
