Saturday's Excerpt – Partners: Deception
"When Will and I reconnected, he told me how well he’s doing and offered me a position." His eyes darkened. "That's the least Will can do for me. Isn't that right, Will? You owed me one."
Johanna studied Will's face. He was flushed and looked uncomfortable as he sat and looked down at his plate of food in an attempt to avoid Johanna's eyes. He didn't offer
a response to Kyle, but Kyle didn't seem to expect one either. She turned her attention back to Kyle. "Have you found a suitable place yet for you and your family?"
He rolled his eyes. "Again, not that it's any of your business, but yes I have." He looked at Will and squared his jaw. "Here."
"I know. You already said you plan to move to Charlestown," Johanna reminded him.
"No, I mean here," Kyle emphasized.
"Here?" Frankie frowned. Suddenly she stiffened. "You mean in this house?"
He nodded. "Why not?"
Trey who had been silent up to this point jumped up out of his chair, startling everyone around the table. "Oh, no you won't! This is my house and I've put up with all I intend to." He turned trembling with rage to Will. "You invited him here and now you can kick his obnoxious ass out!"

Saturday's Excerpt – Partners: Winds Of Fire
Frankie wished she knew why George was so ill at ease. Even though he was forcing himself to be friendly, she felt the chilliness in his attitude. Something was off.
"Just thought I'd stop in for a minute." He craned his neck trying to read the opened file on Frankie's desk. "It's good to see you back at your desk, Johanna," he said as his eyes moved from the file to her.
"It's good to be back." She flashed a bright smile. "You're still coming over on Saturday, I hope."
He returned her smile with a weaker version of his own. "I wouldn't miss it." He cleared his throat. "Well, I'd better get back to the office. We've got our hands full with all of those arson fires."
Frankie leaned back in her chair. "Any clues?"
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully as he studied her for a minute. "We're working on it. Is there anything you'd like to share with me?" He tilted his head toward the folder.

Saturday's Excerpt – Partners: Beyond The Shadows
Frankie scanned the list of victims, and then drew a sharp breath. "I still don't understand how I—" Her eyes stopped scanning and stayed focused on one name. It seemed to jump off the page at her. Her eyes blurred. Her hands shook uncontrollably and she dropped the file folder. Her head swam and nausea overtook her. She gripped the arms of her chair to steady her shaking until her knuckles turned white. "My name is on this list of victims, George." She could barely choke the words out. Her stomach twisted in knots. "That's why you called me down here. I'm one of that bastard's victims!"
Johanna grabbed Frankie's arm and held it tightly like she was hanging on for dear life. Frankie's insides froze. Her head was swimming.

Saturday's Excerpt – Partners: Blinded By The Trees
After Sheriff Ryker finished giving the detectives the details of the corpse’s identity, he shifted his large body on a stool at the island. He held a steaming cup of coffee in his large hands. After taking a sip, he set the cup down then thoughtfully ran a hand over his chin. "I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something doesn’t smell right about this case."
"You don’t think it’s a drug deal gone wrong?" Frankie asked.
"It’s the way he was killed." He frowned. "I’ve never seen anything like that. There was so much rage behind the attack. What could that kid have possibly done to invoke such a violent attack?"

Saturday's Excerpt – Partners: The Other Woman
Gretchen glanced coldly at Frankie before meeting Johanna’s eyes. An amused smile played on her lips. "I already told you, Jo."
"You know I’ve always hated to be called Jo and I’d appreciate it if you’d stop. Now what the hell do you really want?"
Gretchen set her wineglass on the table next to the chair, leaned back letting the dress rise higher, folded her hands and placed them in her lap. "I told you. I’m being blackmailed. You’re the only one who can help me."
Johanna kept her eyes fixed on Gretchen’s. "Find someone else to help you. We’re not going to take your case so you’re wasting your time here and have definitely made a wasted trip unless you’re in the mood to visit Philadelphia or New York City."
"I didn’t ask her to take the case, I asked you." Her eyes softened as she peered at Johanna. "Are you offering to give me the grand tour of Philadelphia and New York City? Or are you offering something more?" Her eyes grew sultry.
"She’s not offering you anything!" Frankie stood up, moved to Johanna’s side, and put an arm around Johanna’s waist. "We’re a team and for the past twelve years all decisions have been mutually made by us. Now I’m going to graciously ask you to leave our home or I will have no choice but to physically remove you."
